Introduction to the Cymbidium 'Fulong Xingdie' (Fulong Star Butterfly) Variety

A new four-season variety from Sichuan, "Fulong Xingdie". The leaves are semi-drooping, the leaf sheaths are long and broad, slightly slanting outward, with a dark red tinge along the edges and midrib. The midrib is thick, the lateral veins are distinct, the leaf surface is flat and glossy, with occasional butterfly-form red dots along the leaf midline. The leaf margins have indistinct serrations, the leaf tips have prominent serrations, and the leaf tips are shortly pointed.

The flower scape stands erect, 15 cm-22 cm tall, red-brown, with the base of the inflorescence dark red, densely covered with even purplish-red vein lines and a sandy blush; the flower bracts press closely against the pedicels; the three sepals spread flat, almost on the same horizontal plane. The sepals (outer three petals) are elongated, slightly narrowed at the base, with a small pouch at the tip, 2.5-2.9 cm long and 0.6-0.8 cm wide, dark red in color, with vivid purplish-red vein lines at the base that gradually fade toward the front end. The petals (lip-guard petals) are completely lip-shaped, and the column is mutated into a tubular form, with the inner three tongues evenly divided on the three sides of the column, leaning against and connecting with one another, encircling and embracing the column in a cluster. The lip has a yellow-white ground color, adorned with large bright red blotches, and the flower diameter is 4-5 cm.
