In our country, compared with industry and the cities, the informatization of agriculture and rural areas is still very backward. However, in recent years, driven by relevant national policies, “bringing the Internet to the countryside” has gradually become a boom, and “Internet Plus Agriculture” is in the ascendant.

How will Internet technology seamlessly connect with traditional agriculture? What changes will information technology, which has distinguished itself in the cities, bring to “agriculture, rural areas and farmers”? This section will publish two reports introducing the progress of “Internet Plus Agriculture”. Please stay tuned.

At the 22nd China Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Achievements Expo held a few days ago, “Yangling Agricultural Cloud” was officially unveiled.

In this “Internet Plus Agriculture” blueprint, massive agricultural big data will be generated, including land data, production data and data on agriculture, rural areas and farmers, forming a complete and recyclable data ecosystem. These big data will bring broad room for imagination to future agricultural development and greatly stimulate a boom in application innovation and entrepreneurship around agriculture and rural areas.

Agricultural modernization is the process of making agricultural production, management and operation methods Internet-based

The “Yangling Agricultural Cloud” produced by “Internet Plus Agriculture” was jointly built by the Yangling Demonstration Zone Management Committee and Digital China. Its underlying technical structure is an agricultural big data center, including farmland rights confirmation data, farmland transaction data, agricultural input data, agricultural technology data and the massive data generated in the agricultural production process.

Digital China chose land rights confirmation as the breakthrough point, not only because Zhongnong Xinda under Digital China began rural informatization work with foresight and occupied the largest market share in land rights confirmation pilots, but also because of the importance of land rights confirmation itself.

Land rights confirmation refers to confirming farmers' contracted land by means of scientific surveying and mapping, so that farmers' contracted management rights can be standardized and effectively protected. In 2013, the No. 1 Central Document was officially issued, requiring that the registration and certification of rural land contracted management rights be basically completed within 5 years. With these foundational agricultural big data, more land transfer transactions can be facilitated efficiently and safely.

The story of Dong Bingkun, a large grain grower in Pingxiang County, Hebei, is a good example. Dong Bingkun once served as village chief and has deep feelings for rural areas. Seeing that villagers went out to work one after another and were unwilling to farm, he decided to stay in the village and keep farming.

However, affected by weather and the market, as well as constrained by the scale of contracted land, he did not make much profit from farming. On the contrary, he even lost the several hundred thousand yuan of family savings. In 2014, Pingxiang County established a rural property rights transfer and trading center. Here, farmers can rent out their land with confidence and boldness.

“In the past, when contracting other people's land, I had to negotiate door to door every year, spending more than 3 months and only managing to contract the land of more than 20 households. Sometimes I even missed the sowing season.” Through the rural property rights transfer and trading center, and with the help of existing land rights confirmation data, Dong Bingkun quickly transferred 1860 mu of cultivated land, and economies of scale began to appear.

Moreover, at the land transfer center, online and offline transaction data will continuously accumulate and become the foundation of agricultural big data. In the future, on the basis of accumulated land data, there will also be historical planting data and hydrological information for this land, providing a scientific data basis for scientific planting and food traceability.

Once crops are planted in the field, how are water and fertilizer? How are pests and diseases? How can they be managed well? Beijing Qishuo Jiye Technology Co., Ltd. under Digital China Information, which was the earliest in China to carry out research, development and large-scale application of the agricultural Internet of Things, developed “Nongyongtong”, which can monitor crop growth thousands of miles away in real time by wireless means and send back relevant data.

“Agricultural modernization is not only the transformation from traditional farming methods to mechanized planting, but also the process of making agricultural production, management and operation methods Internet-based. We need to realize the combination of agricultural modernization, the Internet, big data and traditional agricultural production methods. The most important thing is to improve agricultural production efficiency and achieve precision agriculture. Establishing an agricultural big data platform nationwide can create conditions for precision agriculture and efficient agriculture.” said Guo Wei, chairman of the board of Digital China Holdings Limited.

Online shopping

Offline, dedicated staff will deliver goods to the home

In recent years, as young and middle-aged farmers have gone to the cities to work, the hollowing out of rural areas has become increasingly serious, and most of those left behind are women, children and the elderly. Digital China pays attention not only to major matters of agricultural production, but also to the details of farmers' lives.

Grandpa Wang, who lives in Xiaonanjing Village, Jinzhai County, Anhui, got up early and took his granddaughter to the village-level service station of the Shenzhou Maimaiti Jinzhai County E-commerce Public Service Center, which had just opened. The goods displayed in the spacious service station were dazzling, and the prices were favorable: red wine “original price 99 yuan, current price 49 yuan”, original fragrant rapeseed oil “original price 99 yuan, current price 39 yuan”…… Grandpa Wang could not help buying a lot, especially the original fragrant rapeseed oil, of which he bought a whole box at once. Just as Grandpa Wang was worrying about how to transport these items home, the staff at the village-level service station told him that by simply scanning the QR code on the product, he could shop online, and offline dedicated staff would help deliver the items home, so he no longer had to carry them on both sides.

According to statistics, on the opening day of the Shenzhou Maimaiti Xiaonanjing village-level service station, there were nearly 100 online transactions. The villagers showed strong interest in this shopping model of online transactions and considerate offline service.

It is reported that Shenzhou Maimaiti has established “Shenmai Bangbang Stations” in 3200 villages in more than 60 counties across 18 provinces nationwide, established connections with 500,000 households, and can realize the transformation of agricultural products into agricultural commodities and agricultural commodities into online goods, achieving full-process traceability of original-place agricultural specialty products under the food safety item of “from field to table”. Relying on the service model of rural e-commerce, Shenzhou Maimaiti wholly undertook the implementation and operation of e-commerce entering rural areas in Fuyu County, Heilongjiang.

“Virtual team” links

Rural “people” and “matters”

The future of agriculture depends on “new farmers”. “Cuncunle”, an O2O comprehensive service provider for agriculture, rural areas and farmers focusing on the rural market, has formed a nationwide “new farmer” virtual team through the Internet. Today's Cuncunle already has 300,000 station chiefs and 10 million members, and is the largest farmer social platform in China.

Cuncunle establishes a website homepage in each village to gather the village's “people”, and then through these “people” realizes task crowdsourcing for O2O e-commerce and Cuncunle media. Rural needs are in all aspects. Cuncunle fully leverages the characteristic of “having people in the village” and realizes the connection between “people” and “matters”. For example, through the crowdsourcing model, recruiting workers for major factories has been warmly welcomed. In the future, Cuncunle will become the consumer-end access point and an important marketing platform in Digital China's agricultural industry chain.

Guo Wei introduced that according to the strategic cooperation agreement signed between Digital China and the Yangling Demonstration Zone Management Committee, efforts will be made to build “Yangling Agricultural Cloud” centered on the “one center and four platforms”: the China Yangling Agricultural Big Data Center, the agricultural demonstration and extension platform, the agricultural e-commerce extension platform, the agricultural product safety certification and traceability platform, and the rural land rights confirmation platform. In the future, on the basis of building Yangling Agricultural Cloud, it will also apply to establish the country's first farmers' Internet bank, providing information services, science and technology services, commodity circulation services, financial services, agricultural product quality and safety services, etc. for the construction of modern agriculture nationwide, accelerating the pace of modern agricultural demonstration and extension, e-commerce industry development, and agricultural product safety certification.

“We will cooperate with the demonstration zone to explore together, combining integrated innovation with ‘Internet Plus’, making it a catalyst for establishing a long-term mechanism for agricultural development.” said Guo Wei.
