Lip petals scattered in distribution, lip moss red patches irregular, good red-white contrast, brilliant coloration. Flowers slightly small, mostly single flowers, rarely double flowers. Lip petals mostly opening toward the sky, rarely reflexed backward, flower form dignified.
Cymbidium goeringii peony-petal rare flower, fragrant type, anther cap fully degenerated. When the plant is weak, it opens 3-4 lips; when the plant is strong, it opens more than 8 or 9 lips. The colored spots on the lips are brilliant, with strong contrast. The flowering period is in early March each year, and the flower buds are mainly all purple-red. The flower scape is about a dozen cm, with a lampwick-like stalk. The flower opens higher and higher, until full bloom when it is most spectacular and beautiful.
The plant type has slanting upright leaves, and strong plants reach fifty to sixty cm. It has fine serrations. The leaf color is relatively dark, and the leaves are relatively thick and hard. The back of the leaves has three protruding back veins. The bud sheaths of the plant shoots have a red blush.
Expert comments:
Luo Wendian (Chengdu, Sichuan): "Hong Furong" has a slanting upright leaf type, 4-6 leaves, relatively thick and hard leaf texture, relatively dark leaf color; leaf margins slightly serrated, the back of the leaves has three relatively prominent veins, leaf width about 0.6cm-1.2cm, strong plant seedling height reaching fifty to over sixty cm, and among rare flowers of the same type its plant type is relatively spectacular; new shoots are colored, with a red blush, slightly fading when somewhat longer.
The flower bud color is mainly purple-red, and when the flowers bloom they all open toward the sky. When the plant is weak, the flower opens 3-4 lips; when the plant is strong, the flower opens as many as 8-10 lips, arranged in a radial pattern. The colored spots on the lips are large and brilliant, with strong contrast, the flower fragrance is delicate and pure, and the column is fully degenerated and adorned with brilliant small red berry-like dots like seven-colored pearls. The peak flowering period is in early March each year, the flower scape is about a dozen or so cm tall, with a lampwick-like stalk, and the flower scape gradually extends higher as the flower blooms, until full bloom when it is most spectacular and beautiful, making it a rare large-flowered peony-petal rare flower of Cymbidium goeringii.
Mao Jianming (Qionglai, Sichuan): This flower belongs to the peony-type rare flower of Cymbidium goeringii, originating from Gulin, Sichuan, with a leaf height of about 35 cm, each seedling bearing 4-5 leaves, leaf width 1-1.2 cm; when blooming, each flower has 6-8 lip petals, the lip petals are evenly distributed, rich in colored spots, and the lip petals are slightly rolled. The existing quantity is relatively scarce, and it is one of the excellent varieties of Cymbidium goeringii rare flowers.
Guo Weihong (Chengdu, Sichuan): One of the representative varieties of the Sichuan Cymbidium goeringii rare flower series, a peony-type multi-lip rare flower, with a mutated column, degenerated anthers, and no anther cap. When the plant is weak, the lip petals are 3-4; when the plant is strong, they can reach 8-9, evenly arranged in a radial pattern. The purple-red colored spots on the lip petals are brilliant and vivid, with relatively good contrast. The flower scape opens higher and higher, the flower is fragrant, and it is a relatively excellent peony-petal rare flower variety. Unfortunately, one or two other varieties have been marketed under the name Hong Furong, causing confusion in the variety and having a certain impact on the market acceptance and price of this variety. Now is the time to calm down and clear things up. Luo Shuiqing (Taiwan, China): Graceful and charming, infinitely lovely and richly noble, because the petals stand upright and upward when opening, giving a feeling of proudly standing among the flowers.
