Detailed Guide to Using Hyponex Fertilizers No. 1-5
Bred by Zhang Changjiang, won the bronze award at the 2012 Zhenhai National Orchid Exhibition. This flower has stable flowering quality, a broad lip, brilliant colors, and outward-curling petals, with 9-18 small flowers. It is a supreme variety of Cymbidium goeringii peony-type orchid.
Hyponex is commonly used and feels quite good, but the concentration must definitely be dilute. Below is a brief introduction to the usage of No. 1-5 for orchid growers' reference.
① Hyponex No. 1: The three essential elements nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are present at 7:6:9 respectively (other ingredients are trade secrets and have not been disclosed). The aqueous solution is colorless. Suitable for general plant growth and for strengthening roots and stems. For general soil cultivation, dilute Hyponex 1000 times (i.e., add 1 kg of water per gram of Hyponex; each box of Hyponex comes with a measuring spoon, each full spoon being 1 gram), and spray on leaves, stems, and other parts; it can also be poured into the soil for root absorption, applied once a week. Hyponex No. 1 can also be used as a medium for orchid tissue culture; the method is to add 3 grams of Hyponex No. 1 per liter of culture solution.
② Hyponex No. 2: The three essential elements are present at 20:20:20 respectively, and the aqueous solution is grass-green. Hyponex No. 2 is the most widely used formula and can promote the development of orchids and tropical orchids. Because Hyponex No. 2 has a high total composition, it is safer to dilute 1500-2000 times when using.
③ Hyponex No. 3: The three essential elements are present at 10:30:20 respectively, with a particularly high phosphorus content. The aqueous solution is grayish-black. It mainly promotes flowering and fruiting of orchids. Dilute 1000-2000 times and spray on stems and leaves, or pour into the soil.
④ Hyponex No. 4: The three essential elements are present at 25:5:20, and the aqueous solution is purple. It can promote tillering and increase root mass in orchids, and strengthen the stems (i.e., "strengthening orchid heads"). Use a 1000-times solution. Use with caution on variegated-leaf orchids.
⑤ Hyponex No. 5: The three essential elements are present at 30:10:10 respectively, and the aqueous solution is light orange. It has a special effect on the growth of orchid seedlings and gives good leaf-growing results. The concentration used is 1000 times. Use with caution on variegated-leaf orchids.
