'Yaojiang Die' was discovered in the mountains around "Yaoling Reservoir" within the territory of Yuyao City, Zhejiang Province, in the autumn of 2003. It was dug up by a farmer from Zhangting, Yuyao, and is exclusively collected by the author. The flowers of 'Yaojiang Die' are vivid in color with highly stable butterfly artistry. Its flower shape and color have already surpassed famous butterfly varieties such as the old variety "Wucai Hudie" (Five-Colored Butterfly) and "Guan Die" (Crowned Butterfly); only its cap is inferior to that of "Guan Die". It is a premium native-origin lotus-form outer butterfly selected and bred in Zhejiang in recent years. Both banks of the Yaojiang River have been rich in orchids and Hui orchids since ancient times, and this is one of the birthplaces of Chinese orchid culture, hence the name 'Yaojiang Die'.
