Characteristics and Cultivation Tips of the Cymbidium faberi 'Zhonghua Feilong' Variety
Zhonghua Feilong was collected in Luoyang, Henan in February 2002. The leaves are slanted and upright, thick and glutinous in texture, yellow-green in color; the small flower stalks are exceptionally long, and the flowers are arranged in two whorls. In the lower whorl, the three outer sepals are degenerated and swept back; in the upper layer, the two central petals are bicolor and have become petaloid. The column has transformed into several lip petals, which together with the lip form a cluster of butterfly-like petals of varying shapes, resembling a group of dragons dancing. It is a very rare bicolor, multi-petal, multi-lip wonder flower, a rarity among cymbidiums. In 2004, it won the Special Gold Award at the 3rd Zhejiang Province (Huangyan) Cymbidium Expo.
