An Introduction to the Characteristics of the Cymbidium goeringii cultivar Heping Mei
Heping Mei was collected in 2003 by Pan Defu, a cymbidium enthusiast from Xinchang, from Jintang in Zhoushan, and named by Chen Jiang. The flower stalk is about 10 cm; the petal edges are tightly cupped and excellent, with a small ruyi-shaped lip and bright red markings. The plant type is slender, with leaves held obliquely upright. The flowering rate is low --- Chen Jiang won a bronze award at the 2008 National Orchid Exhibition in Wenzhou. It is another fine new plum-petal variety selected by Xinchang orchid enthusiasts in recent years, following Wannian Mei, Yuanding Mei, Fengzi, and Huangzi.
