Why is the Zhongqing Mudan (Chunlan orchid) so uniquely beloved?
A large peony-petal flower form of Chunlan (Cymbidium goeringii). Its many tongues and many petals give it a distinctive charm. When in bloom, its fragrance is rich, the fan-like tongue transformation is pronounced, and the colors are vivid. This orchid was first named "Gulin Qidie," and some also called it "Gulin Sixi," while in Chengdu it was called "Hong Furong" (Red Hibiscus). When Jiang Yuantian brought it back to Taiwan, China for promotion, it was named "Zhongqing Mudan" (Beloved Peony).
