Strengthening agricultural machinery safety supervision to safeguard agricultural production
In recent years, the number of agricultural machines in rural areas has continued to increase, while agricultural machinery accidents have also shown a rising trend. At present, most agricultural machinery drivers have not received professional training and figure out operation on their own, with violations of operating rules being prominent. Because some agricultural machinery operators have poor safety awareness, agricultural vehicles neither go through road procedures nor take part in annual inspections. In particular, many agricultural tractors serve multiple purposes: during busy farming seasons they go into the fields for cultivation, and during slack seasons they become a means of transport for going to market or visiting relatives and friends, creating many safety hazards.
In my view, to strengthen agricultural machinery safety supervision, first, source management must be strengthened. When farmers buy agricultural machinery, it is necessary to effectively carry out agricultural machinery inspection services and driver training management. Second, law enforcement for agricultural machinery safety production supervision must be increased. Relevant departments should strengthen patrols and supervision and strictly investigate and deal with illegal and irregular acts such as tractors driving on roads in violation of regulations, carrying passengers in violation of regulations, and speeding and overloading. Third, agricultural machinery safety publicity and education activities must be carried out in depth. In market towns and places where agricultural machinery operators are relatively concentrated, publicity materials should be distributed to widely publicize agricultural machinery safety production, safe operation procedures, traffic regulations and so on to agricultural machinery operators.
