Northeast China to See Blizzards in the Next Three Days; Facility Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Need Precautions
On December 1, a reporter learned from the National Meteorological Center that in the next three days, most of Northeast China and the central and eastern parts of Inner Mongolia will experience heavy snowfall. Among these areas, Heilongjiang will see relatively heavy snowfall, with blizzards to severe blizzards in some places, and daily snowfall amounts will approach or exceed historical extremes for the same period.
“The main snowfall period this time will occur from the 1st to the 3rd, with the largest snowfall on the 2nd and some weakening on the 3rd.” said He Lifu, chief forecaster of the National Meteorological Center. “This snowfall is the largest in scope and one of the stronger snowfall processes since the start of winter this year. General snowfall amounts will be 8 mm to 20 mm, with 25 mm to 30 mm in some places. Snow accumulation will generally be 5 cm to 10 cm, and the maximum snow accumulation may reach 15 mm to 20 mm.”
According to the National Meteorological Center, this snowfall will gradually intensify on the night of the 1st. Most of Liaoning will mainly see sleet, with a trend of turning to snow in the north, while northeastern Inner Mongolia, most of Jilin, and southern Heilongjiang will basically see heavy to blizzard snow. As the snow area moves eastward, on the 2nd, eastern Jilin and most of Heilongjiang will experience heavy to blizzard snow. Northern and eastern Heilongjiang will have blizzards with more than 10 mm, and some areas will have severe blizzards of around 20 mm. By the 3rd, both the intensity and scope of snowfall will weaken compared with the earlier period, but cumulative snowfall can reach 25 mm to 30 mm, with the largest snowfall in Heilongjiang.
He Lifu pointed out that this snowfall is intense, wide-ranging, relatively long-lasting, and with deep snow accumulation, and can easily lead to snow cover, icing, and reduced visibility on roads, posing certain hidden dangers to road traffic safety; greenhouses, temporary structures, grain storage, animal husbandry, and electric power will all be adversely affected, and relevant departments need to be reminded to take preventive measures.
In addition, along with the arrival of relatively strong cold air, central Inner Mongolia and southern Northeast China will see temperature drops of 6°C to 8°C, with local temperature drops reaching 10°C. The above areas will also be accompanied by strong winds of force 4 to 5, and some areas in central and eastern Inner Mongolia may see wind force 6.
