"It occupies the upper reaches of western Zhejiang, controls the elbow and armpit of Poyang, commands the throat of Minyue, and connects the influence of Xuan and She," where rivers and land routes meet, a thoroughfare of four provinces. Quzhou is a national historical and cultural city, known as Xin'an in the Han dynasty, Sanqu in the Sui dynasty, and first called Quzhou in the Tang dynasty. It is a key town in the Jiangnan region with a history of 1,800 years.

Quzhou has a long history, numerous historic sites, diverse landforms, and beautiful mountains and rivers. It has a large number of historic sites, including the Southern Confucian Temple, the family temple of the southern branch of the Kong clan, hailed as the "Southern Confucian Holy Land." Nan Kong Sheng He gets its name for this reason.
