National agricultural product online sales exceeded 100 billion yuan last year

The reporter recently learned from the Ministry of Agriculture that in recent years China's agricultural product e-commerce has developed rapidly, with the scale of online transactions doubling and growing. According to preliminary estimates, last year the national online transaction volume of agricultural products exceeded 100 billion yuan, accounting for 3% of agricultural product sales.

Statistics show that currently the number of agriculture-related e-commerce platforms in China exceeds 3000, showing a trend of rapid growth. At the same time, e-commerce for agricultural production materials and leisure agriculture has also begun to take off.

The Ministry of Agriculture introduced that agricultural e-commerce is only one major manifestation of “Internet plus” modern agriculture in the agricultural field. “Internet plus” modern agriculture has also achieved preliminary results in areas such as agricultural IoT and agricultural information services. Among them, in agricultural IoT, the Ministry of Agriculture has successively implemented the national agricultural IoT application demonstration project and regional trial project in 8 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) including Beijing, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia, widely applying agricultural IoT technology in facility agriculture, livestock and aquaculture, field crop cultivation, and agricultural product quality and safety traceability, and has summarized more than 200 mature models of scaled application, with obvious effects in saving water, pesticides, fertilizers and labor.
