Tianshan Snow Lotus is a wild Chunlan variety discovered in Lincang, Yunnan, having come down from the mountains. It was named for its pure, bright elegance and its extremely rare scarcity.
According to the appraisal by Professor Pan Guanghua, this three-star butterfly has a high degree of petal lip transformation, similar to the throat and callus of the labellum; both the petal lips and the labellum are plain-colored, with flawless white flowers, hence it is called "plain-heart butterfly." The three outer petals are emerald green, making it a very precious "plain butterfly" mutation among Chunlan. Its varietal traits are stable, and it is an exceptional flower bestowed by nature. This variety was registered in May 2009 by the China Orchid Variety Registration Committee.
Expert comments: This variety was selected from native Chunlan in Lincang City, a three-star butterfly, with a high degree of petal lip transformation, having a similar throat tube and lamellae; both the petal lips and the labellum are plain-colored, flawless white.
