Introduction to the Chunlan 'Lizhou Ruibie' (Crystal Ruibie) Variety

Lizhou Ruibie, also called Crystal Ruibie, is a new variety of Chunlan Ruibie. It was discovered in 2002 at Xihu'ao, Yuyao, and selected and bred by Yuyao orchid enthusiast Lü Jinliang. In the year it was discovered, Lü Jinliang divided it into 2 pots for planting, but unfortunately in the following year one pot of 5 or 6 large plants died. Later, local orchid enthusiasts in Yuyao introduced it separately. I introduced 2 small seedlings in 2006 and have been growing them ever since. Because this variety can produce crystal growth and leaf buds, orchid enthusiasts all wanted to introduce it, so it was dispersed among growers, and there were not many large plants. Therefore, it did not bloom again until 2010, and so far the stock is about 100 plants. Around 2004, some orchid enthusiasts still did not really recognize leaf buds. That year this variety produced one large plant, and the leaf bud on the central leaf was very obvious. The orchid enthusiast thought it was a disease and desperately applied medicine to it, but in the end it still could not be removed. Only in the following year did he realize it was a leaf bud. Everyone laughs heartily whenever this story is told. The leaves of this variety are relatively broad, with a curved, drooping leaf shape. When it blooms, the flowers stand tall above the leaves, graceful and elegant.
