Farmer training receives 1.096 billion yuan in central government financial support

To support the cultivation of new-type professional farmers, accelerate the building of a new agricultural operating system, and address the questions of “who will farm the land” and “how to farm it well”, in 2015 the central government allocated 1.096 billion yuan to continue supporting farmer training work.

In recent years, in accordance with the new situation in agricultural and rural socioeconomic development, the central government has shifted farmer training work from focusing on serving urban development to focusing on supporting rural economic and social development, with priority given to cultivating production-and-operation-type professional farmers while giving appropriate consideration to skilled-professional-type and social-service-type farmers. By the end of 2014, more than 1 million professional farmers of various types had been cultivated nationwide, training a group of new-type professional farmers who are literate, technically proficient and business-savvy, providing strong talent support for achieving agricultural modernization and building a new countryside.

Since the farmer training policy was implemented in 2004, the central government has continuously increased its support, and by 2015 had allocated a cumulative total of 10.946 billion yuan. Next, the central government will continue adjusting the expenditure structure and continue supporting farmer training work.
