According to the website of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, the drought in parts of south-central Northeast China has eased somewhat, but parts of southern Liaoning and northeastern Inner Mongolia still maintain high temperatures and little rain, and the drought continues to develop. In the four provinces (regions) of Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia, 540,000 people have difficulty accessing drinking water due to drought.

Since July 25, most of Northeast China has experienced an obvious precipitation process, especially in parts of the south-central area where 25-50 mm of precipitation occurred. The cumulative areal average precipitation was 27 mm in Liaoning (58 mm in Anshan, 28 mm in Jinzhou and 24 mm in Huludao, which were more severely affected by drought earlier), 24 mm in Heilongjiang (27 mm in Qiqihar, 18 mm in Daqing, 17 mm in Harbin and 15 mm in Heihe, which were more severely affected by drought earlier), 15 mm in Jilin (29 mm in Tonghua, 21 mm in Changchun, 15 mm in Siping and 11 mm in Songyuan, which were more severely affected by drought earlier), and 7 mm in Inner Mongolia (18 mm in Ulanqab, which was more severely affected by drought earlier). Affected by the precipitation, the drought in south-central Liaoning, southwestern Jilin, central Heilongjiang and parts of central Inner Mongolia has eased somewhat, but parts of southern Liaoning and northeastern Inner Mongolia still maintain high temperatures and little rain, and the drought continues to develop.

As of now, the four provinces (regions) of Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia still have 26.25 million mu of crops affected by drought, and 540,000 people and 1.99 million large livestock have difficulty accessing drinking water due to drought. Compared with the peak of the drought, the drought-affected crop area in the four provinces (regions) has decreased by 24.3 million mu, among which Heilongjiang decreased by 10.79 million mu, Liaoning decreased by 5.72 million mu, Jilin decreased by 4.86 million mu, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region decreased by 2.93 million mu. The number of people with difficulty accessing drinking water has not changed.

As of the statistics on July 29, the drought-affected area of cultivated land nationwide was 39.67 million mu (the average for the same period over many years was 67.74 million mu), and 1.91 million people and 2.74 million large livestock nationwide had difficulty accessing drinking water due to drought (the average for the same period over many years was 4.95 million people and 4.03 million head). They are mainly concentrated in Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Shanxi and other places.

At present, the drought-affected areas in Northeast China continue to follow the requirements of the special meeting of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, going all out to do a good job in all aspects of drought relief and disaster reduction, and striving for stable and high yields of autumn grain.
