Because of successive rainstorms during this year's wheat harvest, imperfect grains of wheat in parts of Anhui and other places exceeded the standard, making it difficult for the quality to meet the national purchase and storage standard. To ease the problem of farmers“having difficulty selling grain”, various localities and departments have successively introduced multiple measures to effectively safeguard the interests of grain-growing farmers.

The Anhui provincial government recently launched a provincial-level temporary wheat purchase and storage program. The scope of the provincial-level temporary wheat purchase and storage covers key counties (cities and districts) in 8 major producing cities: Bozhou, Fuyang, Suzhou, Bengbu, Lu'an, Chuzhou, Huainan and Huaibei. For wheat that meets quality standards, the national minimum purchase price plan is still strictly implemented; for wheat with imperfect grains within 20% and test weight not lower than 710 grams (710 grams/liter), the provincial-level temporary purchase and storage price is 1.1 yuan/jin.

A relevant person in charge of Sinograin said that in response to the situation in some areas where imperfect grains of wheat exceeded the standard due to rain, Sinograin has organized and carried out extended services in various places, proactively providing grain brokers and large grain-growing households with personnel, technical, facilities and equipment services for grain storage, guiding farmers to harvest and store wheat of different qualities separately, sell it by category, and helping farmers increase income.

The Agricultural Development Bank of China regards the summer harvest work as the top priority of its current work and fully gives play to its role as the main channel for fund supply. This year, 158 billion yuan in summer harvest funds have been arranged, an increase of 1.3 billion yuan over last year's actual disbursement, of which 130 billion yuan is credit funds for wheat purchase. In supplying purchase funds, it consistently ensures that “money waits for grain”, making sure that enterprises with accounts at the Agricultural Development Bank of China do not give farmers “IOUs” because of fund supply problems.
