A Cymbidium goeringii from Baoshan, Yunnan, of the plum-blossom narcissus type, with rather thin petals but excellent substance, a very distinctive color, no need for wrapping, and highly stable coloration. This flower has been off the mountain for many years, and due to early cultivation problems, its true appearance is rarely seen. Long Mei and Long Nü came down from the same origin; they look similar in photos, but the actual flowers and leaves differ. Long Nü is inferior to Long Mei in stability and substance. Long Mei has fine, glutinous leaf texture, smooth and flat leaf surface, leaf width 1.0-1.4 cm, and under conventional orchid-house cultivation the leaf length is 28-35 cm. The leaf shape is slightly arc-shaped, the plant form is elegant, and the flower opens as a lotus-type multi-colored plum petal, with thick, heavy petal substance, mostly double flowers, imposing, with a delicate fragrance, stable flower color, and first-class flower retention. The variety blooms easily and has always ranked first among plum-petal Cymbidium goeringii from Yunnan. In early years it was selected and bred by Mr. Qin Yibei, an orchid grower in Baoshan, and later sold at a high price to Mr. Li Hongyin, a well-known orchid grower in Dali. This flower has been off the mountain for many years, and in the early period, due to cultivation problems, many people rarely got to see its true appearance. Long Mei and the Long Nü line (whether Large Long Nü or Small Long Nü) look similar in color in photos (both are multi-colored plum petals), but the actual flower shape and leaves are worlds apart.
