Mr. Yu Canyin, a senior Hangzhou orchid grower, obtained 3 large plants in exchange from Liu Zongwen, and after the flower bloomed again several times it proved stable; my plants were introduced from Mr. Yu Canyin. 'Yidianhong' is a narcissus petal type, and its greatest feature is a large red dot on the lip; the flower is somewhat similar to the Cymbidium goeringii 'Cui Yipin', and a Cymbidium faberi with such a flower form is rarely seen.
This flower is handsome and lively, elegant and unrestrained, with a round lip and brilliant markings, and excellent arrangement.
Viewed as a whole it resembles the Cymbidium goeringii 'Cui Yipin'; the bright red dot set on the large round lip is especially eye-catching and refreshing. Such a stable, vivid red blotch is rarely seen among Cymbidium faberi, making it truly a treasured variety.
Yet no person is perfect and no flower is flawless: the petals of this flower are rather hard, giving it a slightly martial look, and the outer petals tend to droop slightly when open for a long time. If the petals were thin, the flower's quality would rise by another grade.
