What fertilizer is best for Phalaenopsis? Growers share their fertilizing experience
Since becoming obsessed with Phalaenopsis, one question has puzzled me for years: why are the flowers I grow never as numerous or as robust as those sold in the flower market?
A while ago I had the opportunity to visit a Phalaenopsis growing facility, and I also asked the owner in detail about some of the finer points of their management.
Temperature, growing medium, watering, light and so on need no mention - those are common knowledge.
Temperature above 10°C; growing medium of sphagnum moss or a hard medium; light requirement medium to low; young and small seedlings get more nitrogen fertilizer, with a balanced fertilizer for daily use; medium and large seedlings get more phosphorus fertilizer, with a balanced fertilizer for daily use (Peters or Hyponex are both fine); do not water until dry, and when you do water, water thoroughly.

The only difference, the difference that truly shocked me:
The growing facility sprays 3 times a day; the first 2 times are fertilizer solution, fertilizer solution at 1000 times dilution!!! The last time is plain water to wash the leaves, with ventilation so that no water remains on the leaf surface overnight.
Root drenching every 4-5 days, fertilizer solution at 2000 times dilution!!!! One fertilizer watering, one plain watering, alternating.
I was absolutely stunned, but looking around, I did not see a single Phalaenopsis with burned leaves - every one of them was so robust.
After coming back I took a few pots and ran an experiment, and the effect really was obvious: growth clearly sped up, the plants grew more robust by the day, and there was no sign of fertilizer burn.
So my flowers had been malnourished all along, going hungry...
The above is merely what I saw and experienced, for reference only, for reference only.
