This plant was collected in the spring of 2004 in Sanjie, Shengzhou, Zhejiang, and was selected with its flower by a Lan friend surnamed Zhu from Shaoxing. After three years of cultivation, it still had only three shoots with two buds, but on February 11, 2007, it unexpectedly bloomed again with a single flower. On February 14, 2007, thanks to the generosity of the Lan friend surnamed Zhu from Shaoxing, it was transferred as a whole with its flower to Pan Shiding (Maigu), owner of "Xingmeng Lan Yuan" in Ruian, Wenzhou. On January 8, 2008, one flower bud appeared but did not open for some reason, and dissection of the bud showed stable characteristics. On October 24, 2008, another flower bud appeared, also did not open for some reason, and dissection of the bud still showed stable characteristics. The current stock totals 10 shoots and 6 buds, and it has not yet been sold.
'Xingmeng Die' was formerly known as 'Shanwai Shan' and 'Jiding Xingmeng', and is now named 'Xingmeng Die', which is also why this garden changed its name to "Xingmeng Lan Yuan". The leaves are curved and drooping, elegant and flowing. It is a large-flowered three-star butterfly type, with a flower diameter of 11 cm, and the scape rises above the leaves; the fragrance is pure and subtly far-reaching. The outer petals are emerald green, the petaloids are broad and round, with a throat. Both petaloids and the lip have three rose-red markings on a white ground, arranged in the shape of the character "" (mountain), with a velvety texture and strong color contrast. The central column is symmetrical and stands in a tripod-like stance, full and regular yet full of tension, showing great grandeur. At first glance, this flower has a flamboyant character, brimming with elements of fashionable aesthetics, with a strong visual impact that is unforgettable; it is truly a rare top-grade rui die.
