One, single-minded passion. You must have a passion for orchids; this is the first essential point for growing orchids well.
Two, a discerning eye. You need good judgment about which types and grades of orchids are fashionable and have good prospects. When buying orchid seedlings, you must judge accurately whether they are genuine; when buying gamble grasses, you need an eye for whether they will produce good flowers.
Three, apply fertilizer lightly. Use nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in combination; fertilize lightly and avoid applying heavy fertilizer.
Four, guard against problems in all seasons. Pay attention year-round to preventing and controlling pests and diseases, protecting against heat and freezing, and guarding against theft.
Five, five parts moisture. Water only to the extent that the growing medium is thoroughly moistened; do not keep it wet for too long, and do not keep it dry for too long.
Six, ventilation on all sides. Where the orchid pots are placed, there should be ventilation and airflow from east, south, west and north, above and below.
Seven, seven parts light. Avoid direct blazing sun; shade appropriately, generally with about 70% light transmission.
Eight, exchange in all directions. Visit orchid shows and orchid gardens more often, regularly exchange orchid-growing experience with fellow orchid growers, learn from others' strengths to make up for your own weaknesses.
Nine, prepare growing medium. The growing medium can be a mix of multiple materials; in principle it should be loose, water-permeable and air-permeable, contain nutrients, and be slightly acidic. Growing medium that needs sun-drying, boiling, or composting must be prepared in advance. Growing medium, fertilizers, pesticides, pots and tools should always be kept in reserve, so that work is not affected when you cannot find them at the moment of use.
Ten, study diligently. Orchid knowledge is endless; read more orchid books and periodicals, connect with practice, and unleash innovative thinking and innovative ability.
