Methods and Techniques for Manually Adjusting Orchid Leaf Shape
Collected in 2007 in the Yaoguan mountain area of Shidian County, Baoshan, it is a typical broad-leaf Cymbidium lianpan. The leaf shape of an orchid is an important indicator for judging an excellent variety. Even for the same variety, the grass form grown will differ because of different cultivation environments, and good grass form and structure will accordingly fetch a slightly higher price! So can orchid leaf shape be manually adjusted? The answer is yes. Below is an introduction to simple adjustment methods!
Because orchid grass has the characteristic of growing toward light, the direction in which the pot is placed can be decided according to the features of each seedling. If some orchid grass is too tall, a thin rod can be used with a soft metal wire fixed on it at a corresponding height as a vertical line to hold the leaf height so that it grows bending and drooping at that height. Generally it is clipped onto the leaf on the side facing away from the sun! The best time to adjust leaf shape is when the seedling is about nine-tenths grown, because once the seedling has fully grown it cannot be changed; if the seedling is too small there is no need to correct it and it is easy to harm the seedling's growth! Everyone has different preferences for leaf shape, so you can use your head more according to your own liking!
