Guiyang Mingzhu has tall, elevated flower stalks, bearing nine to eleven blooms, with spacing as even as if measured by a ruler! Open and well-arranged. Another precious trait is that the flowers' orientation is also very interesting and unique: the flowers open at multiple angles, so no matter which direction you turn the plant, there is always a flower facing you, truly greeting you on every side. The main petal slightly hoods while the flower structure is strong, and the petal tips are flared at the corners, with a peak gathering into a point at the tip. The two lateral petals slant outward like hands cupping the central column, and because the petal edges are extremely tight, they bulge slightly outward while curling inward, with a small point at the top and flared corners at the tips. The three outer petals, due to their thick, hard texture and extremely tight edges, take on a half-open chime-mouth shape! The pot is half hidden, the flower half contained. It is said to seek no full release, and to fear no withering. The two petals inside the central chamber are exceptionally broad, like a tongue, in a shallow cupped style, a broad Guanyin cup, and the tips of the petals bear something like the oily putty patch on the petals of the old Duoyun, cupping the nose center so that even after long bloom the back of the nose is never exposed! On this point alone, even compared with Duanmei, the finest plum-petal variety among huilan, it is no less. The tongue and the two cupped petals join to form a complete circle! The large round tongue is full and expansive without curling, its surface studded with brilliant blotches, giving an inward-releasing flavor! Looking at the whole flower, this flower is a little strange too! Judging by the tongue, it is the tongue of a lotus-petal; after long bloom it does not curl. Judging by the two cupped petals in the Guanyin-cup style, there is a touch of narcissus; and the three outer petals have the flavor of plum petal. Heh heh, truly plum, narcissus and lotus, all three flavors complete! No wonder Mr. Ning Lei first named it the Three-Horse Carriage! The five petals are rooted and joined in a circle, the two petals inside the central chamber are exceptionally broad like a tongue, in a shallow cupped style, a broad Guanyin cup, the main petal slightly hoods while the flower structure is strong, and the petal tips are flared at the corners, with a peak gathering into a point at the tip. The two lateral petals slant outward like hands cupping the central column, the petal edges curl slightly outward, with a small point at the top and flared corners at the tips, and no obvious narrowing at the base. The three outer petals take on a half-open chime-mouth shape! The petal texture is thick and hard. With extremely tight edges, it opens half like a chime mouth, and the tongue and the two cupped petals join to form a complete circle! The large round tongue is full and expansive without curling, its surface studded with brilliant blotches. This flower belongs to the lotus-shaped narcissus type, so there is no need to fret over whether it counts as a ball petal. This flower's merits are clear, and although it has its unsatisfactory points, it is still a rare new variety.
