What are the key points of dividing Cymbidium faberi? Sharing my experience

Rosa Baiyusu has a moderate plant type (similar to Datang Gongfen), large flowers (one size larger than ordinary Four Seasons Orchid), white plain, lotus type, thick petals, does not turn its petals when open for a long time, and the tongue hangs down without curling back when open for a long time. White plain, large flowers, flower diameter about 4.5CM. After Mr. Huang Zhixiong divided several leafless old pseudobulbs from this plain, the 1234 structure (4 shoots) was collected by Qiuxin...
Since growing Cymbidium faberi in large pots, dividing the pots is always extremely stressful!

Some people say that as long as you find the right road, you can cut it off with one knife! That sounds so easy, but for a strong plant with more than 5 shoots and well-grown roots, it is not so easy! Sometimes after pinching the plant and twisting it for a long time, there is no response; sometimes when you are anxious and cut down with one knife, the wound is very large, and it hurts so much, and if you damage the plant and buds, you can neither eat nor sleep peacefully!

After pouring the orchid out, let it dry for 3 or 4 hours first, wait until the roots are a bit soft, turn the orchid upside down, straighten the roots, hold the roots of the shoots to be divided in your hand, gently pull, and when you hear a click, add one snip with scissors, OK done! This is how I do it, and the division is perfect! Not one root broken, not one plant damaged! I have never been so pleased! Sharing with everyone!

Dividing shoots is delicate work. Tools are very important, and so is judgment. Look clearly at the whole structure first and think about how to divide it, into how many groups, then find the connection points, bend them back and forth a few times, find the thinnest moving point, and when the hand rises and the knife falls, be decisive. After the first path is divided, the rest is simple. Sometimes when necessary, cutting one or two roots is also allowed. To put it plainly, do not rush! Start from below! In fact, when Cymbidium faberi is grown in one pot for 4 or 5 years, the connection points between old shoots are very easy to divide. The key is that the roots interlaced all over the pot need to be carefully and conscientiously combed through, and then they are very easy to divide. Many orchid friends also have this feeling: the connection point has already been cut open with scissors, but it still cannot be taken apart. This is because the roots are crisscrossing inside. When dividing the pot, first comb the roots.
