China's first inland designated port for imported meat passes review
The national inspection team for designated ports for imported meat recently announced that the facilities of the two inspection areas of the designated port for imported meat in Henan, located in Zhengzhou and Luohe, are basically complete, the institutional framework is relatively comprehensive, and the port conditions meet the overall requirements, and agreed that the Henan designated port for imported meat has passed the review.
Construction of the Henan designated port for imported meat began in the second half of 2014. Following the model of “one port, two inspection areas,” inspection areas were built respectively in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone and the Shuanghui Group logistics park in Luohe. Among them, the first phase of the Zhengzhou inspection area covers 80 mu, with a total investment of 150 million yuan, and is planned and built for a scale of inspecting 1,200 tons per day and 400,000 tons of meat products per year; the Luohe inspection area is built for a scale of inspecting 400,000 tons of meat products per year. Both inspection areas are equipped with functional zones such as inspection and storage areas, joint inspection office areas, open-air stacking areas, and quarantine treatment areas, and can carry out operations in parallel.
“This is China's first approved inland designated port for imported meat that is not coastal, not along a river, and not along a border.” said Zheng Jinguang, director of the Port Office of the Henan Provincial Government.
It is understood that Henan currently has 47 imported meat enterprises. In recent years, these enterprises' demand for and import volume of imported meat have grown exponentially, and it is expected that 640,700 tons of imported meat products will be imported this year.
A relevant official from the Port Office of the Henan Provincial Government said that the Henan port can realize functions such as “centralized declaration of port information, joint inspection by customs and quarantine, multimodal transport distribution and delivery, and direct release through zone-port linkage,” and in the future imported meat products can go directly from abroad to Zhengzhou and Luohe to complete inspection procedures. After this port is put into operation, it can give full play to the functions of the Zhengzhou airport port and railway port, greatly reduce logistics costs, and drive the transformation and upgrading of the food industry and cold-chain logistics industry in Henan and the central region.
