Ministry of Agriculture Holds Meeting to Re-mobilize and Re-deploy Current Work on Production Safety

Website News  On August 24, the Ministry of Agriculture held a plenary meeting of the Safety Committee to convey and study the spirit of the August 20 meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and the Executive Meeting of the State Council, as well as the spirit of the August 22 plenary meeting of the State Council Safety Committee, to conduct an in-depth analysis of the weak links and main risk points in current agricultural production safety, to urge and inspect the implementation of production safety work in the recent period, and to re-mobilize, re-deploy and re-implement production safety work for the next stage. The meeting emphasized that production safety work must truly be treated as the top priority of the current period and placed in the foremost position, with meticulous deployment, strengthened responsibility, and vigorous implementation, to make every effort to ensure that agricultural production safety continues to maintain a stable and improving momentum. Bi Meijia, Chief Economist of the Ministry of Agriculture, Director of the General Office, and Deputy Director of the Safety Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting pointed out that the Ministry of Agriculture system must deeply learn the bloody lesson of the particularly major fire and explosion accident at the dangerous goods warehouse of Ruihai Company at Tianjin Port on “8·12”, conscientiously study and implement the spirit of the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and the Executive Meeting of the State Council, as well as the important instructions and comments of General Secretary Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, resolutely overcome inertial thinking and complacency, draw inferences from one case to another, conscientiously analyze and identify unsafe factors and risk points in production safety in their own units and departments, and focus on strengthening the safety management of laboratory reagents, rented housing, network information centers, elevators, boilers and other special electrical and gas equipment, confined spaces, and subordinate stations and bases, and adopt strong measures to resolutely curb and eliminate production safety accidents.

The meeting emphasized that all units in the Ministry of Agriculture system must always keep the string of production safety taut, further raise their ideological awareness, strengthen organizational leadership, implement the responsibility system of principal leaders, increase investment in safeguards, and ensure the effective implementation of all measures. Action must be further accelerated: work deployment must be fast, implementation measures must be fast, and problem rectification must be fast. Problems and hidden accident risks discovered in safety inspections must never be allowed to drag on without action; they must be resolved immediately and thoroughly rectified. Great importance must be attached to the issue of agricultural product quality, truly fulfilling one's duties in one's own area, and striving to ensure that no major agricultural product quality and safety incidents occur. It is necessary to establish and improve production safety emergency mechanisms, scientifically formulate emergency plans, and ensure that once a safety accident occurs, it can be handled promptly, effectively and properly.
