China has a total of 2,746 national standards and 4,246 industry standards in the agricultural field

Recently, the “20-year Achievements Exhibition of National Agricultural Standardization Demonstration Zones” was held in Yangling, Shaanxi. It is understood that China has a total of 2,746 national standards, 4,246 industry standards and more than 17,000 local standards in the agricultural field, covering agricultural inputs, agricultural production, agricultural product processing, agricultural product circulation, agricultural product inspection and testing, and other fields. Staff introduced that although the standards contain some dry indicators, methods and so on, when these standards are applied to planting and breeding, they all become vivid, and the formation of each kind of agricultural product may require multiple standards.

According to a relevant person from the Standardization Administration of China, China has established 91 national standardization technical committees and sub-technical committees in the agricultural field, gathering nearly 10,000 experts. Since 1995, 8 batches of 4,272 national agricultural standardization demonstration zones and 5,781 provincial-level agricultural standardization demonstration zones have been built, involving more than 2,000 counties (districts and cities) across the country, covering major agricultural products such as grain, livestock and poultry, aquatic products, vegetables and fruits, as well as local advantageous and specialty agricultural products. From single-product production and processing to regional comprehensive demonstration, from focusing on output and quantity to placing equal emphasis on quality and efficiency, from focusing solely on agricultural production to agricultural ecological environmental protection, from summarizing and promoting advanced technology to promoting scientific and technological innovation, from agricultural production to rural social governance, it has continuously undergone reform, innovation and improvement.
