At present, the growth of autumn grain crops such as rice and corn is generally normal
The reporter learned from the Ministry of Agriculture on the 30th that this year China's autumn grain planting area has increased steadily, among which the growth of autumn grain crops such as rice and corn is generally normal, laying a good foundation for winning a bumper harvest of grain for the whole year.
As the farming proverb says, the 15th day of the seventh lunar month determines drought or flood, and the 15th day of the eighth lunar month determines the harvest. At present, this is a critical period for the formation of autumn grain yields and a crucial stage for field management, and the Ministry of Agriculture has held a meeting to make special arrangements for the later-stage management of autumn grain. Vice Minister of Agriculture Yu Xinrong said that although autumn grain crops suffered impacts from disasters such as heavy rain and flooding in the south and drought in some parts of the north during their growth period, localities carried out scientific disaster resistance in an orderly and vigorous manner and actively provided disaster relief effectively, minimizing disaster losses to the greatest extent.
Yu Xinrong pointed out that there is still about one month before the large-scale harvest of autumn grain, and there are still many hurdles to pass, including pests and diseases, floods, drought, early frost, and cold dew wind. Localities should firmly establish the idea of fighting disasters to secure a bumper harvest, grasp and do well in later-stage field management, and ensure that as long as autumn grain is not yet in hand, management is not relaxed for even a day, going all out to ensure a good harvest of autumn grain and grain for the whole year.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, affected by a strong El Nino, this autumn southern China may experience low temperatures, overcast and rainy weather, and cold dew wind, while the first frost in the Northeast region may occur earlier than usual, which will have an adverse impact on autumn grain production.
