Current autumn grain crop growth is generally normal
Beijing, August 30 (Reported by Qiao Jinliang): Currently at the critical period for autumn grain yield formation, the Ministry of Agriculture recently deployed late-stage management of autumn grain. Vice Minister of Agriculture Yu Xinrong said that this year's autumn grain planting area increased steadily, and although during the growing period it suffered impacts from disasters such as heavy rain and flooding in the south and drought in some areas of the north, losses were reduced to the greatest extent possible thanks to strong and orderly scientific disaster resistance and active and effective disaster relief by all localities. At present, the growth of autumn grain crops such as rice and corn is generally normal, laying a good foundation for striving for a bumper harvest.
Autumn grain is the largest part of the year's grain production. Yu Xinrong said that there is still about one month before large-scale autumn grain harvesting, and there are still many hurdles to pass, including pests and diseases, floods, drought, early frost and cold dew wind. All localities must firmly establish the idea of fighting disasters to secure a bumper harvest, promptly and effectively carry out late-stage field management, and ensure that as long as autumn grain is not yet in hand, management is not relaxed for even a day.
⟦NL> The Ministry of Agriculture proposed that, in view of the possible low-temperature rainy weather and cold dew wind in the south in autumn and the possibility that the first frost in Northeast China may occur earlier due to the strong El Nino impact, close attention should be paid to major weather changes, emergency response plans should be improved as early as possible, early warning information should be issued in a timely manner, and all disaster prevention measures should be ensured to be in place. Autumn grain production also faces threats from pests and diseases such as rice blast, rice pests and corn armyworm. It is necessary to fully leverage the role of socialized plant protection service organizations, improve control results, and achieve "seizing grain from the mouths of pests." In addition, government officials and technical personnel should be organized to go deep into the production frontline to carry out guidance services, implement key technologies for disaster prevention and reduction and stable yield and increased production, and demonstrate and drive balanced increases in yield over large areas.
