China's first local standard for viral insecticides issued
Recently, the Hubei provincial local standard "Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus suspension concentrate" passed approval by the National Standardization Committee and was officially issued. The standard was drafted jointly by Sun Xiulian's research group at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with relevant teams from the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other institutions, and is China's first regional standard for viral insecticide products.
According to reports, Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus preparations are the earliest-registered and highest annual output viral insecticides in China. At present, 14 companies in China have registered 21 Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus products. Because the standards adopted are all enterprise standards, the quality control indicators stipulated are often not comprehensive enough, and the technical indicators and testing methods are not unified, resulting in considerable differences in product quality among enterprises and limiting the further promotion and application of such products.
This standard establishes a set of practical qualitative and quantitative testing methods for Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus suspension concentrate, and sets out regulatory requirements for the product's physicochemical properties, sampling, packaging, transportation and storage.
