Never relax in autumn grain production, go all out to achieve the goal of stable grain output and increased income
This website news As the farming proverb says, the 15th day of the seventh lunar month determines drought or flood, and the 15th day of the eighth lunar month determines the harvest. At present, we are in the critical period for autumn grain yield formation and the tough stage of field management. The Ministry of Agriculture held a meeting to make special arrangements for late-stage management of autumn grain. Vice Minister Yu Xinrong stressed that all localities must remain steadfast in the goal of stabilizing grain output and increasing income, keep up the momentum of fighting disasters to secure a bumper harvest, intensify work efforts, strengthen guidance and services, and effectively implement all measures for disaster prevention and mitigation, stable production and increased output, going all out to secure a good harvest of autumn grain and grain for the whole year.
Yu Xinrong pointed out that autumn grain is the bulk of the year's grain production. This year, the planted area of autumn grain increased steadily. Although during the growing period it suffered from disasters such as excessive rain and floods in the south and drought in some parts of the north, because all localities carried out scientific disaster resistance in a strong and orderly manner and actively provided disaster relief in a strong and effective manner, disaster losses were reduced to the maximum extent. At present, autumn grain crops such as rice and corn are generally growing normally, laying a good foundation for securing a bumper harvest.
⟦NL> Yu Xinrong stressed that there is still about one month before the large-scale harvest of autumn grain, and it still has to pass through many hurdles such as pests and diseases, floods, drought, early frost, and cold dew wind. All localities must firmly establish the thinking of fighting disasters to secure a bumper harvest, promptly and effectively carry out late-stage field management, and ensure that as long as autumn grain is not yet in hand, management is not relaxed for even a day.
First, go all out to carry out disaster prevention and mitigation. In view of the possible low-temperature overcast rain and cold dew wind in the south in autumn and the possibly earlier first frost in the Northeast region due to the impact of a strong El Nino, it is necessary to strengthen contact with meteorological departments, closely monitor major weather changes, improve emergency plans as early as possible, issue early warning information in a timely manner, and ensure that all disaster prevention measures are implemented in place.
Second, go all out to carry out pest and disease prevention and control. Autumn grain production still faces threats from pests and diseases such as rice blast, rice “two migration” pests, and corn armyworm. It is necessary to give full play to the role of socialized plant protection service organizations, vigorously promote unified prevention and control, and improve control effects. For heavily affected areas, implement joint prevention and joint control, resolutely curb outbreaks and epidemics of pests and diseases, and achieve “snatching grain from the mouths of insects.”
Third, go all out to carry out technical guidance. Organize government staff and technical personnel to go deep into the production front line to carry out guidance and services. Give full play to the radiating and driving role of high-yield creation and green yield increase model research demonstration plots, take the lead in implementing key technologies for disaster prevention and mitigation, stable production and increased output, and demonstrate and drive balanced yield increases over large areas.
Fourth, go all out to carry out agricultural machinery preparation. Extensively mobilize agricultural machinery technicians to enter villages and households, and guide machinery operators to adjust, inspect, and repair operating machinery and tools. Do a good job in agricultural machinery allocation, organize timely rush harvesting and cross-regional machine harvesting, speed up harvest progress, improve harvest quality, and ensure that every grain is returned to the granary.
