Ministry of Finance Allocates 1.483 Billion Yuan in Agricultural Development Funds for Supporting Facility Renovation Projects

Comprehensive Agricultural Development Strongly Supports the Construction of Water-Saving Supporting Facility Renovation Projects in Medium-Sized Irrigation Districts

In 2015, the central government allocated 1.483 billion yuan in comprehensive agricultural development funds, approving the construction of 154 key medium-sized irrigation district water-saving supporting facility renovation projects. The project funds are mainly used for dredging and anti-seepage lining of main and branch canals (ditches), supporting facility improvement and renovation of canal (ditch) system structures, and the construction of modern irrigation district management systems.

After the projects are completed, they will provide backbone water source guarantees for comprehensive agricultural development project areas, significantly improve agricultural infrastructure conditions, and are expected to increase and improve irrigation area by 7,088,700 mu, save 1.057 billion cubic meters of water annually, and add 576 million kilograms of comprehensive agricultural production capacity.
