Central government invests nearly 1.5 billion yuan to support water-saving upgrading of medium-sized irrigation districts

In 2015, the central government allocated 1.483 billion yuan in agricultural comprehensive development funds, and approved the construction of 154 key medium-sized irrigation district water-saving supporting upgrading projects. The project funds were mainly used for dredging and lining seepage prevention of main and branch canals, supporting improvement and renovation of canal system structures, and the construction of modern irrigation district management systems, etc. After the projects are completed, they will provide backbone water source guarantees for agricultural comprehensive development project areas, significantly improve agricultural infrastructure conditions, and are expected to increase and improve irrigation area by 7.0887 million mu, save 1.057 billion cubic meters of water annually, and add 576 million kg of comprehensive agricultural production capacity.
