With the large-scale arrival of autumn seasonal fruits on the market, fruit prices have dropped sharply. On September 8, the price monitoring center found that, compared with the same period last year, prices of 60% of fruits generally declined.

The survey found that the average price of Crown Pear was 5.74 yuan/jin in the same period last year, and is now 2.64 yuan/jin, down 53.99%; the average price of dragon fruit was 5.19 yuan/piece, and is now 3.03 yuan/piece, down 41.74%. The main reason for the drop in fruit prices is that major fruit-producing areas across the country have seen a bumper harvest, and fruit planting areas in some regions have increased.

Due to differences in fruit-producing areas, quality, supermarket purchasing channels and so on, the prices of a few varieties differ greatly, such as yacon, garcinia fruit, Red Delicious apple, Green Delicious apple, mangosteen, red grape, longan and so on. Among them, the price difference for Red Delicious apple is the most striking: Zhongbai Migong Supermarket sells it at 19.8 yuan/jin, while Yas Supermarket sells it for only 9.9 yuan/jin, nearly 10 yuan cheaper per jin; Wushang Liangfan Plaza Store, Zhongbai Migong Supermarket and Yas Supermarket all sell yacon at about 4.8 yuan/jin, while Walmart Supermarket sells it for as high as 12.8 yuan/jin. When choosing fruit, citizens should not only compare prices more, but also pay attention to the fruit's place of origin and quality.

In addition, based on experience from previous years, now is the most affordable period for buying autumn fruits. It is expected that as the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays approach, fruit prices will show an upward trend.
