XINHUA NEWS AGENCY, XI'AN, Sept. 16 (Reporters Bian Jiang and Liang Aiping) In recent years, China's agricultural standardization work has achieved remarkable results, the development of standards systems in key areas has been continuously strengthened, and the standardization system has been continuously improved, powerfully advancing agricultural modernization. This was stated by Yu Xinli, deputy director of the Standardization Administration of China, on the 15th at the National Agricultural Standardization Demonstration Project Performance Assessment Training Course.
More than 200 delegates from all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps took part in the 2015 first-phase National Agricultural Standardization Demonstration Project Performance Assessment Training Course held by the Standardization Administration of China in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province.
Yu Xinli said that standards are the technical basis for economic and social activities, and that through the formulation and implementation of standards, the best order and benefits are formed for economic and social activities. Especially since entering the new century, China's standardization cause has flourished. As of now, the total number of national standards, industry standards and local standards has reached 100,000, and standardization is playing an increasingly important role in safeguarding product quality and safety, promoting industrial transformation and upgrading and improving economic quality and efficiency, and serving diplomacy and foreign trade.
Agricultural standardization is an important part of standardization work. Yu Xinli said that after years of effort, the agricultural standards system has been continuously improved. As of now, 2,652 national agricultural standards have been formulated, 4,246 industry standards have been filed, and more than 17,000 local standards have been filed.
The development of standards systems in key areas has been continuously strengthened. The Standardization Administration of China has successively issued the national standard "General Rules for Well-Facilitated Farmland Construction" and approved the establishment of the national standard plan "Evaluation Specifications for Well-Facilitated Construction"; jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture, it organized research on the "Research on Standards for Important Feed Additive Products" project and completed the formulation and revision of a batch of feed additive product standards; jointly with the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Agriculture, it issued the "Development Plan for the Construction of the Agricultural Products Circulation Standards System" to strengthen the formulation and revision of standards in the field of agricultural products circulation, among other things.
The construction of agricultural standardization demonstration zones has been highly effective. Over the past 20 years, a total of 8 batches of 4,272 national-level agricultural standardization demonstration zones and 5,728 provincial-level agricultural standardization demonstration zones have been built. Through the construction of demonstration zones, agricultural production, agricultural product processing and trade have been regulated, the quality and safety of agricultural products have been safeguarded, agricultural efficiency and farmers' incomes have been increased, and the capacity for sustainable agricultural development has been enhanced.
Yu Xinli said that with the continuous development of China's economy and society, agriculture, a traditional industry, has also quietly seen new development trends, such as the emergence of new technologies like the internet, cloud computing and logistics, the emergence of new business forms such as smart agriculture, leisure agriculture and agricultural product e-commerce, and the emergence of new entities such as large-scale growers, family farms and farmers' professional cooperatives, all of which have put forward new requirements for China's agricultural standardization work and brought new opportunities for the development of agricultural standardization.
