To promote the transformation of agricultural development mode and accelerate the process of agricultural modernization, the Ministry of Agriculture recently issued the "Opinions on Carrying Out the Action to Advance Full Mechanization of Major Crop Production," deploying nationwide the action to advance full mechanization of major crop production. The Opinions state that by 2020, the national comprehensive mechanization level for crop cultivation, planting and harvesting should reach 68%, among which the three major grain crops of rice, wheat and corn should all reach 80% or above, and the levels of mechanized plant protection, drying and straw handling should all be substantially raised.

Through carrying out the action to advance full mechanization, the mechanization level of the production links of major crops will be comprehensively raised, giving full play to agricultural machinery in integrating technologies, saving costs and increasing efficiency, and promoting large-scale operation, and significantly raising agricultural production efficiency, lowering production costs, promoting the transformation of agricultural development mode, and continuously improving agriculture's comprehensive production capacity and market competitiveness.
