How can agricultural science and technology innovation make progress on multiple fronts?
Nowadays, collaborative innovation in agricultural science and technology has broken down the administrative barriers within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, becoming a banner showcasing the three regions' collaborative innovation in science and technology. Recently, a reporter learned from the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences that in recent years the three regions have, through effective measures such as building platforms, clarifying key actors and targeting industries, solidly advanced collaborative innovation in agricultural science and technology across the three regions.
The three regions have built several platforms for collaborative innovation in agricultural science and technology. The "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Agricultural Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Center" was established to focus on cooperation in advancing agricultural industrial structural adjustment, optimization and upgrading, and coordinated development across the three regions; the "Capital Edible Fungi Industry Science and Technology Innovation Service Alliance" was established to promote the coordinated development of the edible fungi industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Agricultural Higher Institutes Collaborative Innovation Strategic Alliance," now being prepared for establishment, aims to give full play to the comprehensive advantages of the three regions' agricultural higher institutes in talent, science and technology, information and location in agriculture and water security and related fields.
The three regions have carried out diversified, multi-level cooperation among key actors. First, cooperation among universities and research institutes in the three regions. For example, the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Agricultural Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Center," initiated and established by the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, takes the agricultural academies of the three regions as its main body. The "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Agricultural Higher Institutes Collaborative Innovation Strategic Alliance," now being prepared, is led by China Agricultural University, with participation from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Beijing University of Agriculture, Hebei Agricultural University, the Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Tianjin Agricultural University and the Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Second, cooperation with enterprises as the main body, such as the "Capital Edible Fungi Industry Science and Technology Innovation Service Alliance," which is an innovation platform with enterprises as the main body, aimed at advancing the integrated breeding, propagation and promotion of edible fungi in the region. Third, cooperation between research institutions and local government departments. For example, the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences has reached consensus on cooperation with the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Longhua County Government of Chengde City, Hebei, the Caofeidian District Government of Tangshan, the Qian'an City Government and many other entities on strengthening the promotion of efficient and practical technologies to boost local industrial development and other aspects.
The three regions have targeted multiple fields of the agricultural industry in organizing science and technology exchange and cooperation. At the recently held Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Agricultural Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Exchange Meeting, seven major cooperation areas were jointly determined: research on regional agricultural planning for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, ecological environmental protection and regional sustainable development, seed industry science and technology innovation, controllable whole-industry-chain premium agriculture, suburban multi-functional leisure agriculture, research and demonstration of agricultural Internet of Things technology, and rural and agricultural informatization.
