Recently, 24 tonnes of frozen pork from the UK landed directly in the inland province of Henan. The Henan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau revealed that this is the first batch of sea-land intermodal imported meat to arrive after the launch of Henan's designated port for meat imports, and also the first time China has used sea-land intermodal transport to ship imported meat directly to an inland designated port for meat imports for inspection and quarantine.

According to reports, the 24 tonnes of frozen pork that arrived came from the UK, was shipped by sea to Tianjin Port, and after the Tianjin inspection and quarantine authorities carried out quarantine treatment on the surface of the containers, it was transported directly by road in the original containers, with the original lead seals and original certificates, to the Henan meat import port.

A person in charge at the Henan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau said that after the launch of Henan's designated port for meat imports, meat from abroad can be transported directly to the designated port in Henan via sea-land, air-land, land-land and other intermodal transport methods. This batch of British frozen pork was imported by Henan Zhongpin Import and Export Trade Co., Ltd. After on-site inspection and confirmation that there were no problems in accordance with the inspection and quarantine regulations for imported meat products, it was unloaded and transported to a designated cold storage facility for supervision, while samples were taken to the laboratory for further testing, and once the test results are qualified it can be put on the market.

A person in charge of the relevant enterprise said that the launch of Henan's designated port for meat imports has greatly reduced the logistics costs for enterprises importing meat, marking that imported meat products shipped by sea will change from the traditional "port distribution" to "hinterland distribution". The designated port for meat imports has turned inland Henan from a "terminal station" for inbound meat products into a "starting station" and "distribution centre".
