To accelerate the promotion and application of mature agricultural IoT application models, on September 8, the Ministry of Agriculture released the "Compilation of Recommended Cost-Saving and Efficiency-Enhancing Agricultural IoT Application Models 2015," centrally releasing a total of 116 replicable and promotable cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing agricultural IoT application models across 5 major categories: field crop farming, protected horticulture, livestock and poultry breeding, aquaculture, and comprehensive.

The 116 cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing agricultural IoT application models released this time were determined by the Ministry of Agriculture on the basis of active applications by agricultural departments of each province (region, municipality), after organizing industry experts to conduct careful review and after a public notice period. They have the distinctive characteristics of “outstanding cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing results, mature technology and equipment, and models worth promoting.” These application models focus on applying IoT technology throughout the entire process of agricultural planting, breeding, and production and processing, to achieve intelligent monitoring, intelligent prevention and control, intelligent control, and intelligent decision-making, and to improve the efficiency of agricultural production and operation. The 10,000-mu cotton base of Regiment 105 of the Sixth Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps applied precision production IoT technology, achieving annual water savings of 400,000 cubic meters, fertilizer savings of 40 tons, and pesticide savings of 64,000 yuan; Zhejiang Top Cloud-Agri Technology Co., Ltd. applied a small housekeeper system for plastic greenhouse greenhouses, reducing personnel by 3~4 people per hundred mu of greenhouses; the Chongqing original breeding pig farm adopted intelligent pig houses and an automatic sow feeding system, saving 200,000 yuan in labor costs each year.

Zhang Hecheng, Director of the Department of Market and Economic Information of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the agricultural IoT application models released this time are complete in variety, broad in coverage, strong in technology, remarkable in effect, and highly promotable, fully reflecting the industrial development level of China's agricultural IoT. It is hoped that these mature IoT application models will be applied more widely in agricultural production, providing reference for agricultural departments at all levels in guiding the development of agricultural IoT, for new agricultural operators in applying IoT technology, and for research institutes, universities, and enterprises in research and development and innovation, and promoting agricultural IoT to better promote production, enter daily life, and benefit the people.
