Trial soybean yields increase by over 10%, CAAS integrated technology proves effective
A reporter recently learned from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences that the green yield-increasing and efficiency-enhancing soybean technology model carried out by the academy this year in the Huang-Huai-Hai region has achieved remarkable results, with yields increasing by 11.8% compared with the control group.
It is understood that this model integrates 8 key technologies including precision sowing with no-till wheat straw mulching. According to yield measurements by an expert group, soybeans planted using this technology model reached 195.3 kg per mu, an increase of 20.6 kg over the yield of soybeans planted using conventional methods (174.7 kg), with an increase rate of 11.8%, and an increase in net income of more than 180 yuan per mu.
Li Jiayang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said that due to declining comparative benefits, China's soybean planting scale has been continuously decreasing in recent years. In 2014, soybean imports reached as high as 71.4 million tons, accounting for 80% of domestic market consumption and 60% of international trade. Relying on green yield-increasing and efficiency-enhancing technology models to achieve high-yield and high-efficiency soybean production will help stabilize and improve the supply capacity of domestically produced soybeans.
