How Can Internet Plus Agriculture Development Be Tailored to Fit
Recently, in Rongchang District, Chongqing, representatives attending the “2015 ‘Internet Plus Agriculture’ Strategic Trends Summit” (referred to as the Summit), including leaders of agricultural specialty e-commerce companies, agricultural enterprises, informatization experts, new farmers engaged in e-commerce operations, and grassroots rural cadre representatives, not only “studied” why Rongchang roast suckling pig is so fresh, fragrant and delicious, how Chu Orange, Liu Peach and Pan Apple were created, and the way to apply big data in agriculture, but also shared the most timely and freshest practical experience in agricultural e-commerce, and explored how “Internet Plus Agriculture” can embark on a new path suited to itself.
“With the further spread of the Internet, e-commerce has entered a stage of rapid advancement. This is the trend of economic development. Only by going with the trend can agriculture achieve better development. We need to be able to expand, under the ‘Internet Plus’ situation, more colorful and effective development models in the agricultural field.” said Su Jun, Executive Director of the E-commerce Committee of the China Association of Trade in Services and Secretary-General of the China E-commerce Industry Alliance, at the Summit.
“Have you still not found a way out for the ‘difficulty in selling’ and ‘difficulty in buying’ rural agricultural products? The Suichang model and Ganji broke the ice for this long ago.” Pan Dongming, founder of the rural e-commerce “Suichang model” and Chairman of Zhejiang Ganjie E-commerce Co., Ltd., introduced the core content of the Suichang model from a practical perspective —— “one center + three systems” —— using the two powerful tools of the “Suichang model,” which addresses the “difficulty in selling” agricultural products, and the “Ganjie village-level e-commerce service system,” which addresses the rural “difficulty in buying,” to deeply analyze county-level rural e-commerce trends and explore e-commerce models that are truly beneficial to farmers.
⟦NL> “Let quality products earn quality prices, let good farmers be highly respected, let production areas develop sustainably, and let the public taste with peace of mind.” Hu Haiqing, planner of “Chu Orange, Liu Peach, Pan Apple” and founder of Tangu Investment, shared practical experience in all key links of the agricultural product e-commerce industry chain, including uncovering the value of agricultural products, building agricultural product brands, online operations, sales, and market promotion. “In this era when the golden generation of consumers is rising, we must attach importance to building premium brands of agricultural products. In particular, we must learn to grasp the ‘golden fulcrum’ and the ‘decisive moment’ of brand building.” said Hu Haiqing.
“Taobao’s ‘Taohuayuan’ has a dream support plan.” Wen Xiang, head of Taobao’s agricultural project “Taohuayuan,” introduced that the plan revolves around new farmers and is dedicated to using stories to bring along the land behind them, the agricultural products on that land, and, supported by new sales models for agricultural products, to make new farmers the brand endorsement for agricultural products.
Zhou Tingrui, founder and chief data scientist of Taiwan Yuntu Scientific Computing Co., Ltd., analyzed the potential and future of China’s agriculture from the levels of data and technology, and demonstrated the important applications and significance of big data in agriculture with feasible solutions such as full-process traceability of live pigs, epidemic prevention and control based on biochips, behavior detection based on visual recognition, precision agriculture, and visualization of crop harvests.
“The reduction of logistics costs is definitely not achieved by reducing costs from the logistics link alone; it is a process of overall supply chain optimization. Otherwise, you will bear more losses due to ‘negative reviews’ and compensation demands, and the loss will outweigh the gain!” Zhang Bing, founder of Jiuye Supply Chain and creator of Cainiao Network’s fresh logistics system, analyzed the model and pain points of “fresh supply chains in the Internet era.”
Also focusing on fresh supply chains, Huang Gang, President of Hansen Supply Chain, Chairman of Hansen Venture Capital, and co-founder of the Agricultural Specialty Micro-Business Platform, brought “2015 Transformation Trends of European and American Agricultural Specialty Fresh Supply Chains.” He said: “Doing all agriculture changed by the Internet is actually doing supply chain restructuring and flattening.” Feng Linglin, Secretary-General of the Micro-Business Professional Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce and Chief Architect of Weigu Entrepreneurship Incubator, said that the reason many agricultural specialty products today cannot be sold through micro-business is that products oriented by traffic thinking and price are certainly not suitable when placed in the direction of user thinking and value orientation. Liao Chuan, founder of Fresh Century O2O, shared “Agricultural Specialty Fresh O2O Practice and Development Trends” from the perspective of practical implementation, allowing everyone to understand more comprehensively and deeply the mutual promotion and development of O2O and agricultural specialty fresh products. “The non-standardization of fresh products is a very thorny problem we face. Branding in the entire fresh industry is relatively limited, so this is also a huge opportunity we currently face.” Liao Chuan admitted.
“For many traditional enterprises, when undertaking transformation or upgrading, the biggest problem they encounter is the alternation and parallel operation of new and old obligations. How to properly resolve the conflict of interest between the two is a very important core proposition in enterprise management.” Wang Ke, Product Operations Director of Dabeinong Nongxin Group and General Manager of the Zhinongtong/Nongxin Mall Business Unit, specifically introduced the new agricultural “Internet Plus” model currently being practiced —— the Pig Network, to create a happy ecosystem for pig farmers.
Finally, Jiang Kai, President of the Meat and Poultry Business Unit of New Hope Liuhe Co., Ltd., analyzed the “golden opportunity of Internet Plus agriculture transformation.” He said: “In the Internet Plus era, although many problems are still old problems, such as food safety issues, production efficiency issues, and market fluctuation issues, because of the Internet and because we have Internet thinking, the answers have already changed.”
