Research and demonstration of green soybean technology models for increasing yield and efficiency achieve remarkable results
Straw return to the field realized, with an average yield increase of 11.8% per mu and an efficiency gain of 183.7 yuan
This website reports On September 21, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences held the “Huang-Huai-Hai Summer Soybean Green Yield-Increasing and Efficiency-Enhancing Technology Model On-Site Demonstration Meeting” in Suzhou City, Anhui Province, where participants observed the results of the integrated application of 8 key technologies, including precision sowing of soybean with no-till wheat straw mulching, and discussed and exchanged views on the next steps of research and demonstration work. Li Jiayang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, attended and delivered a speech. Liu Yongchun, Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Government of Anhui Province, Ma Shuping, Deputy Director of the Seed Management Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, Wan Jianmin, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Li Zhaohui, Vice Mayor of the People's Government of Suzhou City, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Wang Hanzhong, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Li Jiayang fully affirmed the obvious results achieved since the implementation of the “Soybean Green Yield-Increasing and Efficiency-Enhancing Model Demonstration” project. He said that carrying out the demonstration of the “Soybean Green Yield-Increasing and Efficiency-Enhancing Technology Model” is very necessary. With the support of Anhui Province and Suzhou City and the coordinated promotion of sister institutions, the construction and promotion of this technology model will greatly raise the soybean production level and planting efficiency in the Huang-Huai-Hai region, increase farmers' enthusiasm for planting soybeans, and promote the sustainable development of China's soybean industry.
Li Jiayang pointed out that with rapid economic development and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, China's demand for soybeans has risen rapidly. However, due to declining comparative efficiency, China's soybean planting scale has continued to decline and import volumes have continued to increase, posing serious challenges to China's food security, social stability and economic development. Under the severe situation of increasingly prominent constraints on arable land resources and the difficulty of further expanding the planting area, integrating research on grain-soybean rotation, variety breeding, agricultural machinery, plant protection and other aspects to form new models is expected to restore soybean supply capacity and ensure the security of edible protein in China.
Li Jiayang required that the research and demonstration of green soybean yield-increasing and efficiency-enhancing models be persisted in over the long term, with continuously increased work intensity, summarization and improvement, and sustained advancement. First, strengthen organizational leadership. Implement the lead responsibility of the project host unit, actively coordinate with higher-level departments such as the Ministry of Agriculture, seek local support and cooperation, and strengthen collaboration with sister institutions. Second, build a joint research system. Integrate the resources and advantageous forces of governments and technical groups at the national, provincial, municipal and county levels, carry out nationwide collaborative innovation, and form a new pattern of agricultural science and technology innovation and achievement transformation with close linkage from upstream to midstream to downstream. Third, strengthen integrated technological innovation. Based on the development needs of China's soybean industry, with a focus on resource conservation and ecological friendliness, integrate the most advanced technological achievements at home and abroad that are most suitable for regional development and easiest to apply in production, build comprehensive technology models that run through the entire production process and can be replicated, and lead the future development of the soybean industry. Fourth, establish fixed experimental and demonstration bases. In main production areas and typical ecological zones, rationally lay out a number of experimental and demonstration bases, fix long-term demonstration sites that are highly representative, have good demonstration conditions, strong local enthusiasm and are convenient for study and observation, and continuously make them bigger and stronger, thereby using points to drive areas and radiating and driving regional industrial development. Fifth, carry out technical consulting services. Strengthen research on major overall and strategic issues in the soybean industry to provide consulting services for strategic decision-making by higher-level departments. At the same time, strengthen technical training services for grassroots agricultural technicians as well as new business entities such as large growers, farms and professional associations, and establish a development model of “research and development, integration, demonstration, training and promotion in parallel.” Sixth, strengthen publicity and guidance. Timely summarize and distill good practices, good experience and good results in pilot demonstration work, publicize and promote mature technology models, and actively create a good atmosphere for relying on scientific and technological progress to promote increased agricultural yield and efficiency.

It is reported that the project was led by Researcher Han Tianfu of the Institute of Crop Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and integrated 8 key technologies, including no-till precision sowing with straw mulching after wheat stubble, new high-quality and high-yield soybean varieties, soil testing and formulated fertilization, integrated pest and disease control, safe application of herbicides, low-loss mechanical harvesting, whole-process quality monitoring and evaluation, and soybean food processing and utilization. According to yield measurement by the expert group, soybeans planted using this technology model had a per-mu yield of 195.3 kg, an increase of 20.6 kg over the yield of soybeans planted by conventional methods (174.7 kg), a yield increase rate of 11.8%, and an increase in net income of 183.7 yuan per mu. At the same time, it also solved the problem of straw disposal, not only solving long-term problems such as pollution caused by straw burning, but also realizing the staggered-period utilization of straw through straw mulching, turning waste into treasure.
At the meeting, a signing ceremony was also held for the industrialization cooperation agreement on the “No-Till Precision Seeder with Straw Mulching for Wheat Stubble Fields.” Responsible persons from relevant departments of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Anhui Provincial Agricultural Commission, and the Suzhou City Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as well as relevant experts from the National Soybean Industry Technology System, attended the meeting.
