Potato Staple Food Processing Industry Alliance Established
Recently, the National Potato Staple Food Processing Industry Alliance, formed under the leadership of the Institute of Food Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, held its founding conference in Dingxi, Gansu, aiming to implement the State Council's deployment requirements for accelerating the transformation of agricultural development methods, deeply carry out the staple food processing industry improvement action, and advance the development of potato and other staple food products. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture released the fourth batch of national staple food processing industry demonstration enterprises.
"The purpose of building industry alliances and cultivating demonstration enterprises is to create a good atmosphere for the development of the staple food processing industry through platforms built by the government, resources gathered by the platforms, and resources serving the industry," said Pan Libing, deputy director of the Agricultural Product Processing Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture. He said that in the future, it is necessary to further strengthen confidence in the development of the staple food processing industry, take accelerating the value-added processing of agricultural products, promoting sustained increases in farmers' incomes, and meeting the consumption needs and nutritional balance of urban and rural residents as the goals, adhere to the work approach of government guidance, enterprise as the main body, scientific and technological support, and brand-driven development, continue to deeply carry out the "Staple Food Processing Industry Improvement Action," and lead China's staple food processing level to a new stage.
The conference passed the alliance charter and the list of organizational personnel, and unanimously elected Dai Xiaofeng, director of the Institute of Food Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as chairman of the alliance. Sun Baoguo, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, comrades from relevant departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Agriculture, and relevant experts from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences were made members of the alliance's steering committee.
