The reporter learned from the State Administration of Grain on the 9th that this year China's summer grain procurement progressed smoothly. As of September 30, 11 major producing areas including Hebei had purchased a cumulative total of 132.6 billion jin of wheat, and 8 major producing areas including Jiangxi had purchased a cumulative total of 15.9 billion jin of early indica rice.

The reporter learned at the news briefing held by the State Administration of Grain on the 9th that this year, all 6 provinces including Jiangsu, Hubei, Anhui, Henan, Shandong and Hebei launched the minimum purchase price plan for wheat, and 4 provinces including Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan and Hubei launched the minimum purchase price plan for early indica rice. In addition, Xinjiang also launched the state temporary storage wheat procurement.

According to the introduction, this year's wheat and early indica rice procurement volumes decreased year-on-year, mainly because continuous rain during harvest in some areas led to a relatively large number of wheat kernels failing to meet standards.

Autumn grain procurement is the highlight of the year's grain procurement. At present, preparations for autumn grain procurement are basically complete and are gradually getting under way. The procurement of middle and late indica rice has gotten off to a good start, with newly harvested middle and late indica rice in the south already on the market, and 3 provinces including Anhui, Sichuan and Hubei have launched the minimum purchase price implementation plan for middle and late rice. According to statistics, as of September 30, 6 major producing areas including Jiangsu had purchased a cumulative total of 2.9 billion jin of middle and late indica rice, an increase of 800 million jin year-on-year. This year's temporary storage procurement of corn will begin on November 1.
