CNR News, Beijing, November 10 (Reporters Guo Wei, Chi Song, Yu Zhongtao) According to China National Radio's "News and Newspaper Summary" report, Northeast China, as a major grain-producing region of the country, has always played an important role in stabilizing grain prices and safeguarding people's livelihoods. In recent years, Northeast China has made “consolidating and developing modern agriculture” its primary goal for revitalizing the Northeast, accelerating the transformation of agricultural development methods and providing vitality for the sustainable development of agriculture.

Sun Xiuling of Panshan County, Panjin City, Liaoning Province, is particularly happy this year, because not only was the rice harvest bountiful, but the river crabs raised in her own rice paddies also sold briskly.

Sun Xiuling: These river crabs earn more than the rice, it feels like. This counts as a double harvest.

In order to better achieve transformation and upgrading, Liaoning Province has newly built 12 million mu of facility greenhouses, developing greenhouse vegetables and greenhouse aquaculture, and the current production scale already ranks second in the country.

Wang Ruishen, Director of the Facility Agriculture Management Center of Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province: The scale of facility agriculture in our Chaoyang has already reached more than 1.8 million mu. Once economic benefits are fully realized, per capita income is expected to increase by around 3,000 yuan.

In recent years, the economic growth rate of Northeast China has been lower than the national average. To achieve economic revitalization, agriculture, as a traditional strength, has begun to raise its level of modernization. Wuchang City in Heilongjiang Province, supported by cloud platforms and big data, has established a rice traceability service system, achieving full quality assurance, authenticity verification and traceability of rice from seed to production, processing and sales. Dai Xiaodong, Director of the Market and Information Division of the Heilongjiang Provincial Agricultural Committee, stated that Heilongjiang Province will leverage the Internet Plus platform to establish one thousand Internet Plus high-standard demonstration bases across the province, comprehensively raising the level of agricultural industrialization.

Dai Xiaodong: Promote the transformation of agriculture from growing well to selling well, and then rely on selling well to force better growing. Take the Internet as an advantageous channel for promoting the transformation and upgrading of the agricultural industry, increasing farmers' income, and achieving healthy development of the rural economy.

While cultivating new-type farmers, Jilin Province has also published an overall plan to “take the lead in achieving agricultural modernization,” accelerating the development of appropriately scaled operations.

Li Guoqiang, Director of the Jilin Provincial Agricultural Committee: By 2025 it must exceed half. The first thing to develop is scaled operations; this is the prerequisite.

Developing various forms of appropriately scaled operations and accelerating the transformation of agricultural development methods is precisely what the “13th Five-Year Plan” requires for modernized agriculture.

Du Xiaoshan, Researcher at the Rural Development Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences: “Safeguarding national grain security and consolidating and developing modern agriculture” is the primary goal of revitalizing Northeast China, and as the country's major grain-producing region, the sustainable development of Northeast China's agriculture has special significance for stabilizing national grain prices and safeguarding people's livelihoods.
