Han Changfu Meets with UK Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Truss

This website news  On the afternoon of November 12, Minister of Agriculture Han Changfu met in Beijing with Elizabeth·Truss, UK Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and her delegation, and they exchanged views on deepening agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

Han Changfu positively evaluated the sound momentum of cooperation between the agricultural departments of China and the UK. He pointed out that both sides should make good use of the high-level exchange mechanism of the China-UK Joint Committee on Agricultural Cooperation and effectively raise the level and tier of agricultural cooperation between the two countries. To promote the in-depth development of China-UK agricultural cooperation, Han Changfu suggested: first, improve the bilateral cooperation mechanism and deepen mutually beneficial and pragmatic cooperation; second, seize opportunities and create conditions to promote agricultural economic and trade exchanges; third, maintain close communication within multilateral frameworks and explore tripartite cooperation models.

Truss said she fully agreed with Han Changfu's suggestions and was willing to work hand in hand with the Chinese side to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and, under the guidance of the memorandum of understanding, push China-UK agricultural cooperation to a new level.

Bi Meijia, Chief Economist and Director of the General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, and others attended the meeting.
