Now, the chili powder, chili segments, crushed chili and other products produced by Xinjiang Anji Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. have already been exported to South Korea. The business is thriving more and more, local chili growers can sell their products well, surplus labor can work as blue-collar workers in the company, and farmers' lives are getting better and better.

Recently, when walking into Xinjiang Anji Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., located in Anjihai Town, Shawan County, known as the “Home of Chinese Chili Peppers,” nearly forty workers were loading vacuum-packed crushed chili onto trucks, preparing to transport it to South Korea.

“In 2016, we will continue to work hard on deep processing. In addition to the existing chili powder, chili segments, crushed chili and so on, we also plan to set up production lines for pickled chili and chili sauce.” said Jin Mingguo, Operations Director of Xinjiang Anji Agricultural Development Co., Ltd.

Jin Mingguo said that in the new year the company plans to sign a 5000-mu land contract with professional cooperatives in Anjihai Town, and plans to grow sweet peppers specifically according to export orders and needs, and provide seeds to farmers, gradually accumulating experience to form scale. When annual production of 5000 to 10000 tons of chili peppers is achieved, the raw chili materials will basically come from local sources. Export destinations will expand to countries such as Japan, the United States, and Australia. At the same time, for the long-term workers and temporary workers the company needs, it will try its best to hire surplus local labor from Anjihai Town.

At present, the company has 240 employees, including 31 fixed long-term employees. Of the long-term workers plus temporary workers, half are local farmers from Anjihai Town.

Yan Guoliang, a villager from Sanqi Village in Anjihai Town, had only been working at the company for one month, yet he already had new plans to keep working there long term.

“The company provides free food and lodging for all employees. During the three-month probation period, there is still a monthly salary of 2500 yuan. Once the probation period is over, if you do well, not only will it increase by 200 yuan, but they will also sign a labor contract with us. Working here, the wages are my net earnings and there is no risk. My family originally had little land, and sometimes after a year of hard work without earning money, we even lost money. Besides, the company is less than five kilometers from home, so it is convenient to go back.” Yan Guoliang said.

Ma Jinrong, a 28-year-old villager from Siqi Village in Anjihai Town, has already worked at the company for more than a year and is now the production workshop director. He earns a monthly salary of 3500 yuan and plans to keep working at the company all along. He said: “For every additional year you work, the company will consider giving employees a raise. I think that for a farmer to be able to work at his doorstep and earn a salary is a very happy thing.”
