2015 Potato Price Index Insurance Claims Settled in Ulanqab City
Potato cultivation is an important pillar of our city's primary industry and an important support for stabilizing farmers' incomes and energizing the rural economy. To promote the healthy development of our city's potato industry, stabilize the incomes of potato growers, and disperse the risks of potato market price fluctuations, in 2015 our city carried out a pilot program of premium subsidies for potato target price insurance in Chayou Zhongqi and Chayou Houqi.
At present, the underwriting and claims settlement work for potato price index insurance in Zhongqi and Houqi has been completed. In 2015, the insured area for potato price index insurance in Zhongqi and Houqi was 11,300 mu, of which the insured area in Chayou Zhongqi was 6,000 mu and the insured area in Chayou Houqi was 5,300 mu; the insured varieties included ordinary potatoes and special-purpose potatoes, of which ordinary potatoes covered 6,000 mu and special-purpose potatoes covered 5,300 mu; the total premium was 1,349,560 yuan, of which the city-level finance bore 70% of the total premium, totaling 944,692 yuan, and the insured farmers bore 30% of the premium, totaling 404,868 yuan. According to the provisions of the implementation plan for the premium subsidy work for potato price index insurance, the agreed price for special-purpose potato price index insurance was 1.24 yuan/kg, and the agreed price for ordinary potato price index insurance was 0.94 yuan/kg. The market prices for the year were 1.16 yuan/kg and 0.897 yuan/kg respectively. After deducting the 10% deductible, the potato price index insurance claim amount for the two banners was 959,400 yuan, and calculated on the basis of the total premium, the claim ratio was 71%.
