Since 2015, the Nanyang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, on the basis of careful screening, has included dried wood ear fungus in the doubling plan for exported food and agricultural products, adopting multiple measures to provide assistance, which has effectively boosted export earnings for this product.

It is reported that the bureau, in response to the actual situation of dried wood ear fungus exports from Nanyang, has stepped up enterprise registration efforts, bringing the total number of dried wood ear fungus export enterprises to 25, a year-on-year increase of 108.3%. At the same time, it has further revised the operational guidelines for inspection and supervision of edible fungi and reformed relevant procedures, insisting on rapid inspection and rapid release while ensuring quality.

Data shows that from January to December 2015, the export value of dried wood ear fungus from Nanyang reached 108 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 112%, making it the city's second edible fungus agricultural product after shiitake mushrooms to exceed 100 million USD in value.

It is understood that wood ear fungus is extremely rich in nutrients and is hailed as the “meat among vegetables” and the “king among vegetables.” It is not only high in iron but can also cleanse the stomach and intestines. Dried wood ear fungus exports from Nanyang are mostly handled by enterprises in Xixia, where the mild climate, moderate rainfall and ample sunlight ensure the yield and quality of wood ear fungus produced within the county, earning the trust of more and more overseas customers.

Wu Gang, deputy director of the Nanyang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, said that Nanyang wood ear fungus is currently selling well in Vietnam, the United States, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Indonesia and many other countries, with export volume growing significantly, effectively promoting local economic development.
